Plot

On the last few days of the year, on the holy period of Erandor (somewhat equivalent to our Christmas), Janessa has her usual arguments with her uncle Brackneed. She becomes despondent over her "Vendyorness;" and after yelling at her uncle and running off, she does not know what to do. Elcra, her best friend, manages to pull a few strings.

At the same time, Franklin "Jok" Ferguson goes back home on holiday. The Severises take over his farmstead for the holiday period. Xiveer tries to pry more into his son's private life as they attempt to build a shed.

Notes

This story is notable for being the first TST story not to have any member of the Severis family as the direct primary focus of the story. In this case, it is Janessa and Brackneed. However, they are equally important, as it is important to the bonding between father and son, and where character development is established.

Furthermore, Xiveer's best friend and next door neighbour, Franklin "Jok" Ferugson, is introduced as a character for the first time. He was only previously mentioned in story #1.
