Judith Aptow is a secondary character from The Severis Tales.
Biography
Referred to as Mrs. Aptow in dialogue, Mrs. Aptow is a potato farmer on the outskirts of Barlett. She was born in Kolton in Albasca County, located right in the western prairies of Caldore.
Like many others, she wanted to travel to see the rest of the country; but do to some political issues between two of the counties, she was essentially stranded in Marius. With very little place to go, she ran out of money, and she briefly became homeless. Eventually, she drifted into Barlett and found on a farm.
Because she was such a professional and athletic harvester of crops, she was given possession of the farm after the original owners retired. She changed the name to Aptow Farms, and, with her husband's help, established a large potato crop that serves much of Barlett, including exports to other locations.
Physical Description
Mrs. Aptow is getting up there in age; but she still has smooth, fair skin with crinkled salt and pepper hair and olive green eyes. Her skin often tans in the summer due to her exposure to the sun.
Mrs. Aptow is also quite athletic, despite looking otherwise.
Peronality and Habits
Mrs. Aptow is a "touchy-feely" social person—that is, she often touches shoulders or arms as a form of a friendly social gesture. She is always willing to entertain guests, unexpected or not, when she has the time to do so. This has caused issues before with some people, as, understandably, it makes them feel at odds.
Family and Relationships
All of Mrs. Aptow's family is back home, in Kolton and area. She once received a family painting of her close family out on one of the farms, which she hangs proudly in her kitchen.
Although she does not often have the chance to go out to town these days, she relies on Severis General Goods for grocery deliveries. Reena MacTavish was uncomfortable with her for quite some time, as her touchy-feely type of socializing convinced Reena she was attempting lesbian advances on her. This turned out not to be the case, and over time (and with a kick in the philosophical bottom from Xiveer), she found many similarities with Mrs. Aptow's experience of travelling and becoming stranded.
Notable Events
- At some point in her life, Mrs. Aptow travelled from the prairies to north-central Caldore to explore, but due to issues between her and home, she became stranded and cut off from home.
