Milakkalos "Mila" Daruginna is a primary character from The Severis Tales.
Biography
Mila was born in the most eastern portion of Caldore. Fundy Spires is not a county, but an area where many water-birthed bipedal dragons and half-dragons originate from, and is a place of cultural significance. However, the Daruginna family, faced with unspecified political issues, relocated across Caldore to Rale County. Like everyone there, they became impoverished and faced numerous internal family conflicts. Mila's father abandoned her and her mother when she was eight. While she struggled to keep Mila in check, she became like the others, engaging in thefts and other criminal activity. In her early teens, she spent a lot of time in prison for her crimes, although she was just trying to survive.
With the stress and economic depression driving them mad, she met Maven Kalflar, a water-birthed bipedal dragon, and they became the best of friends. As Mila's mother finally found work and a way to sustain them, Mila (supported by both Maven and her mother) was offered the chance to join a travelling dance troupe headed out of Rale. Mila and Maven lost touch, and had not seen each other for twenty years, until they were reunited unexpectedly.
After turning her life around, Mila settled in Barlett and opened up a pub in the east end, down the street from Severis General Goods. She quickly became friends with Leena, who gave her the full support she needed to keep her business running. Since opening Mila's, she has had several highly prominent figures from across Caldore and many parts of Algenon come to visit her now famous pub. She is regarded as a business leader, and she sits in Barlett's chamber of commerce.
Mila lives in a small apartment on top of the pub.
Physical Description
Mila has greyish, pale-blue skin, and matted black hair. Like some half-dragons and elves, she can produce magic from her hands, although she can only dribble a few drops of water. Because of her violent upbringing, she has learned self-defence techniques to stay alive in Rale; and those skills transferred into her new career when dealing with delinquent patrons.
Peronality and Habits
Mila is often critical of Xiveer due to his behaviour and mannerisms. She often is critical of Brackneed Vendyor because of his egotistical nature. She is often sarcastic and witty, but, like many bartenders, talks frequently to her customers. In turn, she is quite the sociable character.
Family and Relationships
Mila's family was torn apart by arguments and fights between her parents. After settling in Rale (not by their choice), her father left, and she never saw him again. It was just her and her mother to survive Rale's high-crime rate and impoverished conditions. Mila's mother finally escaped Rale herself, moving into Tonton County. They keep in touch on a regular basis.
Maven Kalflar is her best friend, and she was relieved that after twenty years, Maven a much better person. Leena is her second best friend; and it has to be said that, although she disapproves of Xiveer's antics, he is also a friend. Although Larry isn't allowed into her establishment (he is considered underage), they have talked at great length on various topics.
Notable Events
- Her eighth year was the worst, as it saw her family torn apart after moving from Fundy Spires.
- At age ninteeen, she left Rale for good. Ten years later, she opened Mila's.
