Larrynton "Larry" Arendor Severis is a primary character from The Severis Tales.

Biography

Larry is the eldest son of Leena and Xiveer Severis. At the suggestion of his grandfather, Larrynton Severis, his common name should be shortened to Larry. He dislikes the name, including his birth name of Arendor. To him, the name "Larry" sounds like a forty year old lonely ad executive.

Due to his unique physiology (in that he is 80% dragon and 20% elf), he is somewhat of a rare person, and has been the subject of the talk of the town, most of that negative. Thus, his parents have shielded him from most of the harm, providing him with whatever he needed, including his primary education.

As he grew older, at the age of eighteen, he was forced to interact with the real world and attend Barlett College, where slowly, he has begun to blossom out. He only had one true childhood friend, Elcra Winterbottom, his entire life; but slowly that is changing.

Nontehless, Larry is generally a slacker, and he has never had a real job that payed any money.

Physical Description

Larry is unusual in that the mix of his D.N.A. is high on the dragon side; even more-so because his father is a half-dragon, but without many of his features. Larry is tall, has a lot of green scales on his face, neck, arms and legs; he has almond-shaped amber eyes; horns that are larger than his father's; wings and a tail. He also has longer claws than his father. His face is also more dragon-ish, with a bit of a snout and tongue compared to his mother's elf facial features; but he can grow a beard.

Besides the ability to fly, Larry has sensitive hearing and a strong sense of smell. He can hear what others are talking about long before they are aware he's in the vicinity. Moreover, he can hear Janessa Vendyor's scratchy, hoarse voice from far away, which often causes his ears to fold in on themselves.

Also unusual for half-dragons, Larry also has the ability to breathe fire, an ability bipedal dragons only have. However, repeated use does upset his stomach lining, and will bring on his acid reflux.

When going out, Larry wears a custom leather jacket with button-ups on the back for his wings sit in. He also wears gloves to hide his claws.

Peronality and Habits

Because he was picked on for most of his life, Larry has developed stomach and stress-related issues, including extreme shyness, low self-esteem, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Despite having springy legs and the ability to run quite fast, he is very lethargic, and he sometimes has bouts of minor depression. He also tends to stay at home most of the time, but will go out when needed, or accompanied by Elcra.

Larry is a science fiction and fantasy nerd. He likes the extraordinary, and reads a lot of books and stories in either genre. Furthermore, he is interested in what lies beyond Algenon, their world.

Since entering college, he's begun to open up a little, especially with the likes of Janessa or Tarla Wilfellow.

If provoked, however, Larry will become menacing. He demonstrated this clearly with Toln Faresteed during Larryghitis, when Janessa removed his glove, exposing his claws. He gently moved them across Toln's cheek, giving him the utmost fear in his victim.

Family and Relationships

Leena and Xiveer, despite the result in their method of raising him, are proud of Larry. Michale (his younger brother), however, takes every moment to torture him. His favourite activity is to swing on Larry's tail like he's swinging through the jungle.

Elcra Winterbottom is the childhood friend of the Severis family. She and Larry grew up together, and as she is the strong farmer-type, she often protects him, once beating up Toln Faresteed in front of a bunch of others. Since attending college, he has started having formal friendships or being on friendly terms with others, including Janessa Vendyor, who had a lifelong dislike of him for his personality.

He has two other friends at the end of the first semester: Terrence Howard and Tarla Wilfellow. His relationship with Janessa Vendyor, as above, has improved to the point she can stand being in the same room as him (at the very least).

Toln Faresteed is a bully and xenophobic man who hates Larry. He is Larry's arch-nemesis, and he will attempt to physically or mentally harm him with any means.

Education

Being the fantasy and science-fiction story geek he is, Larry shocked everyone by going into the new sciences of astronomy. He was always fascinated by what was outside of Algenon, and now, he has the chance to redeem himself. He enrolled in the program on the first day of college (the orientation day) on Mondas, Septela 1, 1103. His parents were initially disappointed when he didn't enrol in business and economics, as they would have loved for him to take over the family business.

While excelling in all his applied studies, he is still prone to the stress of those who look down upon him, including three students who, in front of the dean and a professor, slurred racial and xenophobic remarks (they were expelled on the dot). He has learned to ignore such things.
