Melbern is studying mechanical engineering at Barlett College. He is, attitude-wise, the opposite of his sister, Shanna, who he often fights with him. His experimentation with gears and fascination with trains led him to adapting Tyrel Narrows' wheelchair wheels to become a miniature version of a steam train that propelled Tyrel down Pine Street with frightening and disastrous consequences.
